Join AAUP at the university of chicago

To join the University of Chicago AAUP chapter, there are three steps:

  1. Join the national American Association of University Professors.

  2. Sign up for our newsletter, where we will keep you posted about upcoming meetings and events. If you are not sure yet about joining the national AAUP, you are still welcome to join the mailing list and connect with us.

  3. Consider getting involved with one of our working groups.

Eligibility

We employ a broad definition of faculty which includes standing faculty, contingent faculty, lecturers and instructors, researchers, postdoctoral fellows, librarians and archivists, and technicians whose work contributes to teaching. If you are an instructional staff member, even if you are already a member of a bargaining unit at Yale (Local 33, 34, or 35), we welcome your membership in the AAUP chapter. In fact, the national AAUP organization asks that instructional staff with access to a bargaining unit first join that unit, then apply for AAUP membership.

Dues

Membership in the national American Association of University Professors involves annual dues, which exist on a sliding scale based on self-reported income.
