Defending Our Work and Our Students
Our Chapter’s View
The university leadership is submitting to the Trump administration in important ways without acknowledging it. Billionaire influence on campus has gone too far.
The above problems are generating inequality and mismanagement in many forms on our campus.
In response, we propose that faculty, students, and staff need to be empowered. What that looks like for now, from our perspective:
Address inequalities among university faculty and staff, such as the lack of leave for senior instructional professors and senior lecturers.
Defend the Center for the Study of Race, Politics, and Culture, and the value of social justice across campus, including at the Lab School.
Assert faculty governance authority over structural matters related to the organization of centers, institutes, and academic units.
Prepare to stand up for our work, our values, and our legal rights in court, whether or not the university will do so.
